Ellie Jane Goulding is a British born on 30 December 1986. Tracey Goulding Summers worked as a grocery clerk and Arthur Goulding, the father of Ellie Jane Goulding, worked as an undertaker. Goulding is the second child with a brother called Alex and a sister who is older named Isabel and a second sister known as Jordan. Alex his brother is a bassist and is part of the Hereford band. As a child her mother inspired her to become a musician. She started learning the clarinet at the age of nine. She began writing songs of her own at 14 years old, but it wasn't until after she left for college that she really pursued the art of songwriting. Goulding's interest in electronic music started when she was in the process of completing her college master's degree. By using MySpace, she was able to contact Frankmusik which helped in the creation of her folktronica. Jamie Lillywhite noticed her and was her manager. Later, he took charge of A.&R in a talent contest. Lillywhite linked her with Music producer Starsmith. Starsmith helped in November 2009 in the release of Under the Sheets the debut single by her. Starsmith worked alongside her on Lights. She was signed to Polydor Records even though Under the Sheets had been released by the independent record label Neon Gold Records.
